Portable USB – Privacy Policy

Portable USB (referred to as “the App”) is a file management and transfer tool available exclusively on the App Store. We are committed to protecting your privacy, and our core data handling principle is clear:

We do not collect, store, or process your personal data or file content on any servers. All data remains solely on your device.

1. No Collection of Personal Data

The App operates entirely locally on your iOS device, and we do not collect any personal information, technical data, or usage data from you. This includes:

  • Your Files: Documents, images, audio, video, and other files are either managed locally or transferred directly to third-party cloud services authorised by you (such as iCloud, Google Drive). We do not access, intercept, store, or process this file data.
  • Device Information: We do not collect device identifiers (such as IDFA), operating system version, or other technical specifications.
  • Usage Data: We do not track, log, or store how you use the App.

2. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services solely to enable specific features, and we do not control or access any data processed by these services:

  • Authorised Cloud Storage Providers: When you connect to iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, you interact directly with these services. All data transfer occurs between your device and the cloud provider, and is subject to the provider’s privacy policy and terms. We act only as a technical gateway and do not store, process, or access the transferred data.
  • Firebase and AdMob (Google): These SDKs are used for crash reporting (to fix app issues) and displaying non-personalised advertisements. They may collect anonymous, non-identifiable data (such as generic crash logs, device type) as governed by Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. We do not have access to the data processed by these services, and their data practices are independent of the App.

3. Permissions

The App requests minimal device permissions only to enable core features. Data accessed through these permissions never leaves your device:

  • Local Network: To support Wi-Fi file transfer between devices on the same network.
  • Photo Library: To import/export photos/videos between the App and your device’s photo library.
  • Biometrics (Face ID / Touch ID): An optional feature for local App unlocking. This biometric data is processed on your device and is never sent to us or any third parties.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings, which will disable the corresponding feature but not affect other App functionalities.

4. Data Security

As all your data is stored locally on your device, its security depends primarily on your device’s built-in protections (such as passcode, biometrics). The App offers optional in-app security features (password, pattern lock) for additional local protection of your files.

5. Your Control Over Data

As we do not collect or store your data, there is no personal data held by us for you to access, correct, or delete. You maintain full control over your data:

  • Edit, delete, or manage files directly through the App’s interface.
  • Uninstalling the App will permanently remove all App-related data from your device.

6. Children’s Privacy

This App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. As we do not collect any personal data, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting children’s data. If you believe a child has used the App and provided data (although the App does not collect any data), please contact us.

7. Policy Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated to comply with legal changes or App functionality adjustments. We will notify you of any significant changes via an in-app alert (where applicable) and update the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after the update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
